Monday (2/23) - While it was an "ice" day back home in Texas, it was blazing hot here in Rosario. After class, I grabbed a couple of empanadas from "Autoservicia Francia", one of the infinite family owned local stores that sells any number of random items. I had heard their empanadas were good, and it was true. Empanadas are only like 7 pesos (about 60 cents) so if a place has good empanadas, snag. I arrived home sweaty, did some homework and booked my flight to the Patagonias, and then I tagged along with the family to the USAR, aka the local "JCC". Romi didn't even know what USAR stands for, people here just call it USAR, but after spending about 4 hours there, I can confirm it is basically the local Jewish Community Center. It has 2 outdoor large sports courts, some tennis courts, a nice swimming pool, a seating area on grass with a pavilion. Then, inside, it has 3 stories with a small workout gym, toddler room, snacks vending area, plaza with a ping pong table, basketball gym, and many meeting rooms. I saw many Maccabi shirts, which was kind of cool. In the basketball gym, there was some kind of basketball practice going on, and probably half of the players (10-14 year olds ish) were wearing NBA jerseys. AND I didn't see a Ginobli. I wonder if these kids really know who Kevin Durant and Dwayne Wade are, or if they just thought those jerseys looked cool on the rack.
After the USAR, we had dinner and I called a night early.
Tuesday - It was super hot. I was extraordinarily hungry after class, so I walked around and found a restaurant called Agenor that was boasting a lunch special with an unlimited salad bar. So I planned to sit down, hang out, work on some stuff on my computer, and eat a lot. Well, I definitely ate a lot and felt much better. However, the salad bar was below average, the Wifi wasn't syncing with my phone so I didn't even try on my computer, and it was so hot that I found myself dripping in sweat just sitting there eating. Places here don't really blast the AC like I am used to. When it is hot, it's hot, and people deal with it. Also, it's really humid, which results in the sweat.
So, I didn't end up getting much done at the restaurant, but I was really glad I went because it definitely filled the hungry void. When I got home, I took a quick and hot nap before taking care of a few things and entertaining the kids while the parents were gone. We sang "Old McDonald" for like 45 minutes. It was great.
Then, weekly Tuesday night futbol at 9pm, which was extra exhausting this week because we played 4v4, and I went home and to sleep.
Wednesday - We don't use AC in class because that's just not a thing here, so we usually blast the fans. But today, we were listening to songs, so we turned off the fans to hear better. Then, I found that I was getting my paper wet just from writing because I was sweating. It's raining today, it's really humid. It's funny because the last 3 days when it was been annoyingly hot and I would really enjoy some cool weather, my peeps at home are praying for some heat.
